Finders Keepers

Finders Keepers is my second group project at The Game Assembly. We worked in our own custom engine "Bean" to create a third person game where you play as the master thief Penny and are on a mission to steal back a precious item from the king for a Baron.

My Contributions

Dash Bubble Shader

The dash bubbles we can see in game use a shader that I first prototyped in Unreal and then created in HLSL so we could use it in our own engine "Bean".

Bubble Popping

When the bubble pops there is a particle burst of smaller bubbles that I created and we can also see the dissolve part of the shader in action! This is controlled by a dissolve parameter that is changed by the programmers when the player jumps out of the bubble to make it disappaear and then reapper after a short while.

Environment Map Creation

During this project I was the person who was responsible for creating all of the environment maps for the lighting to the different levels. Below are some screenshots from the game to showcase the different lights in the levels.

Other Contributions

During this project I also updated my Maya export plugin I made during the first game project so now the animators can choose their own export paths instead of it being hard coded to the project. I also made it give a warning at export in case the animators had removed namespaces in the workfile.

Besides that I also did a lot of tweaking and polishing on other VFX that I originally wasn't the creator of and did a bunch of playtesting to help our level designers find bugs and issues with their maps.
